1. Increasing Intimidation of Christians in China(November 27, 2017)

By fsspx.news

In the province of Jiangxi, government officials are financially encouraging Christians to remove crosses from their homes and replace them with the effigy of President Xi Jinping.

According to propaganda from the Chinese government on social media, no less than 624 crosses have been removed from houses by their owners, who ¡°publicly recognized their mistakes¡± and promised ¡°not to entrust to Jesus but to the (Communist) Party¡±.

In this part of the country, where there are one million Christians, 10% of the population live below the poverty line. The government is thus able to convince poor people to remove religious images from their homes in exchange for certain social advantages; this is what is happening, a priest in the country told Ucanews.

Another priest in northern China declared that President Xi has become ¡°another Mao¡± since his re-election, and fears that the country¡¯s religious policy will soon grow stricter.

Recently, the Ministry of Education even launched a campaign to ¡°raise awareness¡± among the youth, who are encouraged to denounce any member of their family that could be a threat to national security.

An armed group affiliated with Daesh has promised a terrorist attack on the Vatican during the Christmas holidays.

Intelligence Group Enterprise is an agency that closely monitors propaganda from Daesh. The agency published on its website a video uploaded by the Wafa Media Foundation, one of the Islamic State¡¯s media outlets.

A jihadist can be seen at the wheel of a BMW, heading straight for St. Peter¡¯s Basilica. Next to him are an automatic gun and a backpack. In the top left corner: ¡°Christmas Blood. So Wait¡¦¡±.

Investigation on the video has revealed that it was recorded in the city of Marawi in the Philippines, where government forces are struggling against a militia affiliated with Daesh, the ¡°Maute Group¡±.

Terrorist threats often grow stronger around Christmas: in 2016, a Christmas market was targeted by Daesh in Berlin, killing ten people and wounding dozens.

3. A Lutheran Specialist on Ecumenism Receives the Ratzinger Prize

The Ratzinger Price was awarded on November 18, 2017, to the Lutheran theologian Theodor Dieter, one of the major artisans of all the important joint statements by Catholics and Protestant in the past twenty years.

The Ratzinger Prize is sometimes called the ¡°Nobel in Theology¡±. It is awarded for a theological work that is ¡°open to the horizon¡± as the statutes of the Ratzinger Foundation that delivers the prize stipulate.

This is not the first time a non-Catholic has been rewarded; an Anglican received the prize in 2013 and an Orthodox theologian in 2016.

The winner of the 2017 Ratzinger Prize was thanked for his work in writing the Lutheran and Catholic Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification in 1999, a major document for post-conciliar ecumenism.

This text, the fruit of long years of discussion, was successfully elaborated only thanks to a ¡°differentiated consensus¡±, admitted Cardinal Walter Kasper himself, then president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity.

In a study addressed to all the cardinals in 2004, the Society of St. Pius X lamented the fact that the ecumenism that came out of Vatican II has:

¡°...destroyed, as it were, the most beautiful treasures of the Church, for instead of accepting that Unity founded on the plenitude of truth, it would establish a new unity upon a truth that espouses error.
