Don¡¯t be solicitous, therefore, saying;

what shall we eat, or what shall we drink(11th JULY 2015)

¡°For what doth it profit a man,if he gain the whole world,and suffer the loss of his own soul?¡±(Mt. 16:26).

 Our Lord Jesus Christ insists on giving the first place to God. God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end (Apoc. 1:8, 21:6, 22:13), the Creator and the ultimate end of all. All things come from Him and must return to Him. He deserves the first place in our life; He must be at the principle of our thinking by Faith; He deserves to be loved above all things by Charity, to be set as our ultimate end towards which all our activity is directed. Any love opposed to the love of God must be eradicated and replaced by divine Charity.

 Now St John warns us: ¡°Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him¡± (1 Jn. 2:15). The love of worldly things, especially of riches, because as St Paul warns us: ¡°the desire of money is the root of all evils¡± (1 Tim. 6:10). It is unfortunately the love of riches which is dominating the modern world; this greed has led to the consumerism that is at the very cause of the whole concern about climate change. The big problem is not the earthly and material consequence but the spiritual cause of it: this greed leads souls to Hell. It is the Church¡¯s mission to call back these souls onto the path to Heaven, to preach with our Lord Jesus Christ: ¡°Do penance: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand¡± (Mt. 3:2).

 In a time when sin has advanced to unheard-of levels, so as not only to practice openly sins against nature, but even to claim a right to them, and a right to abortion and other very grievous sins, there is greater need than ever to call for penance: let all person fall on their knees and beg for mercy, beg for the grace of conversion, both for self and for their neighbour and for those who do not beg – otherwise so many souls will be lost and the world will incur great chastisement. There is indeed need to call for conversion, not ¡°ecological conversion¡± (sic!) but spiritual conversion!

 The recent encyclical on climate change points out to many worldly matters – which are not all false, indeed one ought to respect the Creation, to avoid waste, pollution, etc. – but neglects the most important matter: spiritual conversion to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ¡°Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you tithe mint, and anise, and cummin, and have left the weightier things of the law; judgment, and mercy, and faith. These things you ought to have done, and not to leave those undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel¡± (Mt. 23:23-24).

 They speak now of a third covenant, ¡°covenant between humanity and the environment!¡± I do not acknowledge any covenant other than ¡°the New and Everlasting Covenant¡± in the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The least one can say is that this ¡°covenant between humanity and the environment¡± is not found in the Scriptures, neither in the Tradition of the Church, it is not a matter of the teaching of the Church.

 Our Lord Jesus Christ¡¯s mission to His apostles is this one: ¡°Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world¡± (Mt. 28:19-20). Our Lord assists His Church, NOT to serve a new ¡°covenant between humanity and the environment,¡± but to teach NOTHING ELSE than ¡°to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you.¡±

 ¡°Don¡¯t be solicitous, therefore, saying; what shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what with shall we be clothed, or what weather will it be? Will there be a global warning? For all these things do the pagans seek, for your Father knowth that you have need of all these things, seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added onto you.¡±(Mt. 16:31-32)     Amen.
