Q What are the proof of Jesus' Death  and  Resurrection?

A The best witness for the death of Christ is the Holy Shroud, and St John the apostle who was there when Jesus gave up the last breath: ¡°bowing his head, He gave up the ghost¡± (Jn. 19:30). Many painters and sculptors represent our Lord bowing the head to the side, but the Holy Shroud (at Turin) shows that He bowed the head forward: indeed the neck is over-extended in the back, and almost not visible in the front, which is typical of the head bent forward. Yet this also proves the ¡°rigor mortis – stiffness of death¡±, otherwise the head would have fallen back when the body was laid on its back in the tomb: thus the Holy Shroud, showing the head bent forward though the body was laid on its back proves the ¡°rigor mortis¡±, proves the death of Christ.

Note that it also proves the Resurrection of Christ: indeed He could not have stayed in the Shroud more than three days, since afterwards the decomposition starts and it causes the end of ¡°rigor mortis¡±, the head would have fallen back on the stone. Moreover, on the Holy Shroud there is no trace of corruption, nor even of any tearing of the cloth nor of the many clots of blood that had adhered to the cloth. Now, ask any nurse that is used to bandage big wounds: after three days it is impossible to separate a bandage from the wound without any such tearing¡¦ Only the Resurrection can explain such perfect separation of the body – fully returned to health – from the clots and the cloth in which they remained. Hence the Holy Shroud is a prime-witness both for the death and the Resurrection of Christ!
