질문: 개신교 예배와 가톨릭 성령운동를 어떻게 생각하세요?

답변: 개신교인들의 예배는 흔히 이성에 호소하는 것이 아니라 감성에 호소합니다. 왜냐하면 저들이 자기들의 위치를 이성으로 생각한다면 견디어 서서 있을 수가 없기 때문입니다. 그리스도께서 친히 세우신 교회 (가톨릭교회) 이후 저들의 분파가 시작된 것은 1500년이라는 차이가 있는데 이는 굉장히 분명한 결함입니다.

그레고리안 성가는 감성을 영적으로 끌어올리고 묵상하게끔 합니다. 이것은 기도로부터 오며 참된 기도로 이끌고, ‘감성에 호소’하기보다는 오히려 그 감성을 위로 끌어내어 묵상으로 가게 합니다.

가톨릭 성령쇄신운동 CCR: Catholic Charismatic Renewal

 가톨릭 성령운동의 커다란 문제점은 이것이 개신교인들과 함께 시작된다는 점입니다. 그곳에 불어오는 분명한 ‘성령’과는 전혀 관련 없습니다. (교회 내에는 오직 칠  성사뿐인데) 팔 성사를 도입하는 것과 같은, 성령을 주는 척 하는 ‘안수(按手)’를 도입했다는 바로 그 사실은 우리 주님이 제정한 것은 아닙니다. 이것은 신성모독/이단입니다.

트레이시(Tracy)는 “이 성령운동에 적극적인 많은 젊은이들은 다른 종교로 거리낌 없이 개종을 할 것이다.' 라고 했는데 이 말은 성령운동에 부는 것은 진리의 영이 아니라 오히려 혼돈(混沌)의 영이라는 점을 보여줍니다.

“그래도 그들이 그리 나쁜 것은 아니예요. 우리는 그들로부터 많은 것을 배울 수 있어요.”라고 하겠지만, 아닙니다. 우리가 개신교인을 모범으로 바라보아서는 안 되고 오히려 가톨릭 성인들의 모범을 봐야 한다고 생각합니다. 아기 예수 데레사 성녀 또한 성서를 읽기 좋아했고 특히 복음서를 좋아했는데 그분은 성서를 읽을 때에 겸손의 정신, 올바른 정신을 가졌으며 자기 자신의 해석을 의지하지 않고 교부들의 해석을 따랐습니다. “나 혼자서 성서를 모두 이해할 수 있어.”라는 생각으로 성서를 읽는 것은, 즉 내 해석에 집착하는 것은 개신교인들이 분명히 그러하듯이 잘못된 길로 가는 가장 확실한 방법입니다. 왜 그럴까요? 왜냐하면, “천주께서는 교만한 자를 거부하시고, 겸손한 이에게는 은총을 주시는”(야고보4:6)분이시기 때문입니다. 성 아우구스티누스는 이르시길, 성서의 모든 페이지는 같은 교훈이라고 하십니다. 참으로 기억해야할 가장 중요한 교훈입니다.

Regarding the Protestant services

 

Q  What do you think of Protestant Services and CCR ?

A  Protestant services often appeal to the emotions, not to reason: because if they reflect with reason on their position, they can't stand: the 1500 gap (at least) between Christ and the start of their protestant sects is such an evident flaw.
Gregorian Chant lifts from the senses to the spiritual, to contemplation: it comes from prayer and leads to true prayer. It does not so much "appeal to the senses", but rather lifts the senses above: to contemplation.

CCR: Catholic Charismatic Renewal

The big problem for that is that it started with Protestants: and it is far from evident which "spirit" is blowing there! The very fact to have introduced an "imposition of the hands" that pretends to give the Spirit is tantamount to introduce an eight sacrament, not instituted by our Lord, which is blasphemy/heresy.

Tracy said: "many of the youths who are active in the movement will not think twice of converting to other religion": that shows that it is not the Spirit of Truth that is blowing there, but rather the spirit of confusion.

“They are not so bad though. We can learn much from them.” I do not think we should look to Protestants for models, but rather to the Catholic SAINTS: a St Therese of the Child Jesus also loved to read the Scriptures, especially the Gospel, but she had the RIGHT spirit in reading it, a spirit of humility, not trusting her own interpretation but following the interpretation of the Fathers. Reading the Scriptures with the idea “I can all understand it by myself – I stick to my own interpretation” is the surest way to go astray – precisely as the Protestants do. Why? Because “God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” (Jac. 4:6). St Augustine says that every page of the Scriptures tell us the same lesson: it is indeed the most important one to remember.
