The seal of confession

A  Father, is the priest allowed to reveal what he learnt in Confession if he was threatened with imprisonment or death?

Q  A priest is NEVER allowed to reveal what he learnt in Confession, even if there is a matter of life/death. He is bound by a secrecy which is greater than the one a medical doctor owes to his patient, etc. St John Nepomucen refused to say to the King what the Queen had said in Confession and was martyred for that, martyr of the secrecy of confession.

In a certain way, the duty of secrecy for a priest is similar to the professional secrecy that a medical doctor owes his patient, and as a patient could sue his doctor who would reveal confidential information about his patient, so he could sue a priest. Even the civil court would recognise the duty of professional secrecy.
