Confusing Phrase

¡°Jesus came to the world so that we would be saved, that we would heed His words and follow Him. But why in Matt 13:10-15, He referred to Isaiah who said lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them, it is as if He is saying, God does not want to let the people see or hear or understand because otherwise they would be converted. This is a disturbing line, because even the disciples, Jesus had to explain to them the parables. Whose eyes or ears or hearts are opened then? If all eyes, ears and hearts are closed, how can the word of God saves us?¡±

A God resists the proud and gives His grace to the humble. Pride blinds the intelligence. The speaking in parables ¡°so that seeing they see not¡¦¡± is a punishment of this pride: darkness is the punishment and consequence of that pride¡¦ until the person acknowledges that he sees not, humbles himself and ask for grace: then the Good Lord will give the grace, and the light to see. One must flee from pride, which is a frightful sin. Indeed if God resists the proud, it is quite evident that no proud person can ever be saved: they must humble themselves, and then God will give his grace and they will see. One should even say that the very fact to humble oneself is already a grace of God, most unmerited, most mercifully given! But by prayer and penance we can obtain that grace for our neighbour, and for ourselves we must continually ask for the grace of humility.
