Q  Some people say about us: ¡°we are also old-fashioned, should get with the time, the church already loosened its grip, why must we go back...¡±

A  Time passes by, very quickly! Our lives are short; yesterday we were born, today we live, tomorrow we shall be dead. If we ¡°get with the time¡±, we shall pass away with the time, very quickly. Why people go to Church? Because they search for values that do not pass, they search for Eternal Life, they search for God! And God does want us to ¡°search for Him¡±: ¡°Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened: seek his face evermore¡± (Ps. 104:4). ¡°Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found: call upon him, while he is near¡± (Is. 55:6). ¡°Seek the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, you that have wrought his judgment: seek the just, seek the meek: if by any means you may be hid in the day of the Lord's indignation¡± (Soph. 2:3).

And in order for us to find God more easily, He Himself came down from Heaven to earth: our Lord Jesus Christ! His Church is precisely the place where we can find God, because there we can be united with our Lord Jesus Christ, the One Mediator between God and men. So the whole purpose of the Church is precisely for us to find eternal life in the Son of God, to find eternal goods, the true goods, not the deceiving ones, which quickly pass away. Thus St Paul says: ¡°we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen, are temporal; but the things which are not seen [object of Faith], are eternal¡± (2 Cor. 4:18).

Some men of the Church have lost that spirit, and are turned down towards earthly goods, which pass away and thus have ¡°loosened their grip¡±, but the Church herself is still offering those eternal goods, the true goods, in her Tradition. If one wants to be worldly, no need of the Church for that! If one wants to find God, then come to the Tradition of the Church!

To be attached to the Tradition means to be attached to goods that do not pass away: ¡°Jesus Christ, yesterday, and today; and the same for ever¡± (Heb. 13:8). To be faithful to what the Church has taught yesterday is the best guarantee that one is united with Christ today also and for ever in the future. On the contrary, to jump on the last wagon of theological novelties is the best guarantee to be out-of-date tomorrow very quickly!
